We’re looking to hire a Staff Engineer (Level IC-4) into our Data Engineering team to help to further develop our analytics platform for audience and campaign data. An ideal candidate will combine experience within the advertising / marketing space with deep passion for data and big data technology, and should have experience analyzing multi-petabyte data sets and working closely with data scientists to build production-ready models.


  • Collaborate with other engineers to produce a robust, highly performant data pipeline including data ingestion, transformation, aggregation, and storage of data for analysis and modeling.
  • Orchestrate complex workflows to accommodate a range of large-scale data sets from our clients and partners across several targeted verticals.
  • Partner with our data scientists to deliver production-ready models that operate at scale to power superior advertising performance.
  • Understand the value of and implement measurement techniques to improve (and prove!) the performance lift of our analytics and models.
  • Bring the experience and know-how to keep our data pipeline operations on rails.


  • Minimum of 5 years experience in software engineering, including 3 years building data pipelines on large scale distributed systems
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent experience
  • Domain experience highly desirable in the following areas:
    • Computational advertising and/or marketing technologies
    • Ingesting and transforming large-scale data sets (both in batch and streaming fashion)
  • Demonstrated expertise in:
    • Big data tech including Spark, Hadoop, HDFS
    • Cloud-based analytics environments (such as Qubole or DataBricks)
    • Manipulating very large data sets
    • Working within the AWS platform
    • Java, Python or equivalent high-level language.
    • Workflow management tools such as Airflow or Oozie
    • Working with data scientists to operationalize code, including:
      • Converting notebooks (e.g Jupyter) to production-ready models.
      • Experience with Machine learning libraries (MLlib or other ML libraries)
  • Capable of investigating, familiarizing and mastering new datasets quickly.
  • Excellent leadership, written and verbal communication, analysis, design, development, and collaborative problem-solving skills
  • Prior experience working in a startup environment is ideal
