We are looking for a candidate that has a strong interest in developing data and analytics solutions to address business problems, can interact effectively with both the technology teams and the business units, and is passionate about new technologies. As a Data Engineer you will help build our data infrastructure and increase Peerspace’s analytics and data science capabilities.
Our stack is mainly Clojure, NodeJS, MongoDB, Docker, Postgres, Google Data Flow and Google BigQuery, along with Javascript (React). We use Periscope and Metabase for reporting, and occasionally Google Data Studio. We like Python and R but we are not yet using them as much as we could.
You will work closely with the Engineering, Infrastructure and Product teams to:
Build and scale data ingestion and transformation processes.Transform our data into models that help the all units of the company understand our performance and opportunities. Build data sets, tools and documentation to enable analysts in all parts of the company to build their own analytics and reports. At peerspace everyone is an analyst.Run ad hoc analyses to support high-priority projects from internal business units.Provide input on new data-generating processes and help organize our data capture efforts.
In order to be successful at this job, you will need the following experience:
2+ years experience in SQL.3+ years experience in Python, Java, R, or similar data-oriented languages2+ years of experience with Postgres, Mongo or BigQuery.1+ years of experience with Data Visualization tools.Basic knowledge of : Hadoop, Airflow, Kafka, Spark or similar big data environmentsStrong oral and communication skills and the proven ability to teach complex information in an effective, engaging mannerWorking knowledge of Statistical AnalysisA degree in Computer Science, Math, Physics or Engineering
