Keepsafe currently employs 25 people and is growing. As Keepsafe’s Director of Engineering, you will drive our engineering output, build the engineering team and help our engineers grow. You are entrepreneurial minded, thrive for simple solutions and are passionate about shipping consumer products. You will facilitate technical conversations with product teams and help engineers discover simple solutions. We believe in efficient code that allows us to ship a lot with little code. This role will allow you to apply your problem solving skills, in addition to helping lead and mentor the engineering team. You will report directly to the CTO.
With a current team of 6 engineers, your tasks early on will be more aligned with that of an engineering manager. Our growth plan for 2018 is to grow the engineering organization to 20 people across our 2 offices, which will require you to hire and supervise additional engineering managers.

Role Responsibilities

  • Ship reliable, scalable and efficient code for mobile and backend
  • Work together with our in-house recruiter to define the hiring process and be responsible for building the engineering team
  • Manage, inspire and mentor our current team of 6 engineers, to start
  • Hire, build and mentor engineering managers within Keepsafe
  • Own our bi-weekly sprints from sprint planning through release
  • Be the facilitator within our cross functional product teams
  • Collaborate with engineering to bridge the gap between backend and client side
  • Help out with code reviews and small programming tasks that are not on the critical path to keep your hands dirty

  • Required Experience

  • 5+ years of software engineering experience. Ideally in iOS, Android and high scale backend systems
  • 3+ years of engineering management experience
  • Experience communicating technical concepts to non-technical audiences
  • Experience working on cross-functional teams composed of engineers, product managers and designers
  • B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science or equivalent degree or experience
  • Preferred Experience

  • Strong technical writing skills
  • Experience in technical and product strategy at a consumer facing software company

    Our Recruitment Process:
    Our interview process consists of several stages, each one allowing us get to know you better, professionally and technically. It is also an opportunity for you to gain a better understanding of our culture and the work we do. We move quickly and go from initial screen to an on-site within a week or less pending availability. If all goes well, we will have an offer by the end of the full day on-site.
