So let’s get down to the nitty-gritty on what we are looking for in a Data Engineer. We don’t want to think about day one, but day 365 and beyond.

The Big Data Analytics team is responsible for ingesting and processing the millions of diverse signals that our social network of experts generates (both online and offline) and transforming them to provide valuable insights to our clients and internal business teams. Our clients, in turn, use the power of those insights to better optimize their campaigns on our platform. The internal teams use these insights to inform new strategies across marketing, sales, client success, product, and engineering.

We are looking for a big data engineer with a passion for data-driven culture, commitment to teamwork, and passion for customer satisfaction.


  • Build and maintain data APIs to retrieve data from data warehouse and other data sources
  • Design and develop BI environments to support reporting, analysis and visualizations requirements
  • Design data storage tables in a data warehouse for optimal storage and quick reporting
  • Develop and tune database applications
  • Ensure data quality through testing
  • Extraction, Transformation and Load (ETL) to support data integration needs
  • Provide and maintain data feeds to internal applications (such as an ESP) and client systems
  • Build and maintain a modern data pipeline, to collect, cleanse and process diverse signals and data from disparate sources

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree or higher in Computer science or related discipline
  • Experience with ETL tools, BI tools, and SQL based databases
  • Experience coding with Java 
  • Experience with the Linux operating system
  • Experience with unstructured data (i.e. JSON)
  • Experience with data streaming pipelines

 Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Big Data tooling such as Hadoop  
  • Experience with AWS technologies like S3, RDS, Kinesis, EMR, Redshift, DynamoDb
  • Experience with the MDX analytical querying language
  • Experience with the Pentaho reporting suite
  • Experience with Spark
  • Experience with microservices and REST APIs
  • Ability to understand business needs and translate them into technical specifications.
  • Strong ability to explain advanced data concepts to database developers and architects as well as non-technical end users, and senior executives.
  • Strong understanding of complex relational/dimensional data models
